I’m not waiting for change. I’m running to make it happen.
Caroline Avinger is running for South Carolina House District 24 to fight for education, attainable housing, and healthcare you can count on.
Why I’m Running
I'm not waiting for someone else to fix what's broken.
For a while, I was doing exactly what I’ve always told my daughters not to do: complaining without offering a solution. So I stepped forward. As a small business owner, former teacher, and full-time mom, I've lived the challenges our district faces – and I believe representation should be present, responsive, and accountable.
Too many decisions feel distant from the people who live with their consequences. Teachers deserve support grounded in classroom reality. Small business owners deserve relief from crushing insurance costs. Working families deserve housing and groceries they can afford.
This district deserves a representative who shows up – and that’s exactly what I’m here to do.
Priority Issues
-
Raise teacher pay and raise teacher status. Restore professional autonomy and reduce bureaucratic mandates created by people far removed from today’s classrooms. Support strong public schools and technical education pathways. Bring back life skills education — financial literacy, civics, and practical adulthood skills. When teachers are trusted and supported, students thrive.
-
People who work here should be able to live here. Teachers, first responders, healthcare workers, hospitality staff, and small business employees should not be priced out of their own communities. And the young people we educate should not feel forced to build their futures elsewhere because they cannot afford to return home.
-
As a small business owner, I understand what rising premiums and high deductibles mean in real life. Independent policy holders, early retirees, seniors on fixed incomes, and families with high-deductible plans are squeezed from every side. Healthcare coverage should not feel like a gamble, and small businesses should not be priced out of providing it.
